Build the list before you look at rooms

Two to three hours is the right length
Late afternoon into early evening works best. Guests arrive, the toast lands about an hour in while everyone is present and still sharp, and the party has a natural end that leaves people wanting a second round elsewhere.
Food that keeps people standing
